General description
View towards Svente Lake from Eglukalns observation deck, Daugavpils district.
12.06.2008.
Observation point is a small area (usually - some square meters) with public access where opens a wide, fascinating, attractive view. Observation points are visited with an intent to enjoy the view and frequently comprise an inportant tourism resource.. These landmarks could be divided in artificial ones (observation decks) and natural ones - in the last ones the view opens from the ground level.
For most part observation points have no specifc protection and management regime - as a result over the time the value of observation point can be lost but for most part this value can be regained. In a case of Latvia the most frequent loss of observation points happens due to overgrowth with bushes and trees - nowadays we do not anticipate the existence of such potential landmarks.
